10/03/2003: Over a month has passed so I guess it's about time I wrote something.
I'm not very good at this regular update thing, I just about manage with the comics, though you may have noticed an increasing trend for filler strips recently. I only seem to manage to update this blog once a month at best. Hardly an insight on my life really. I could talk about the war on Iraq, but I bet people are sick of that now. You can probably guess that I'm pro-war. Heck, I can't think of anything to say that no one else has said before. You all know about Optimus Prime, you all know about "friendly fire", so I guess there's nothing you want to hear from me about on that front. On the note of Optimus Prime, I was looking through the official website for Transformers Armada, and what do I find? Laserbeak is an autobot, an Autobot. Laserbeak was the best Decepticon in the original series, and they went and made him into an Autobot. Notch that up as yet another thing I don't like about the latest series of Transformers. I passed my driving test, so I'm free to drive on the open road by myself. Already I've been picking up a nice plethora of bad habits, they make driving so much easier than the way you're taught too. For American readers, the standard driving test taken in the UK is for manual gears, we don't like automatics much here. I'm sure I read that just about everyone uses automatics in the States. Clutch control can be so satisfying at times :). Oh yeah, my ISP isn't BT anymore, 150 hours was not enough for me in a month so I had to switch ISP. Unfortunately my new one is worse, I don't know how I manage it. I cope though. ![]() "I wish for a harem!" You probably noticed that my site disappeared for a while, then you get 404 errors, the whole shebang. The keenspace server, schlock, died. Unfortunately at about the same time as Schlock died, the Slammer virus hit. In the ensuing chaos my site was one of those lost. Luckily I keep backups of just about everything (though the links page is gone), so I reuploaded it all. As you may have guessed from the chibi, I recently celebrated my birthday. My 18th birthday to be precise. I'm now 18 years old, that sounds old. Got a nice new Sony Trinitron monitor, so I've now got a dual monitor setup. It's gradual but my computer keeps improving slowly. I delivered that double length comic that I promised, I thought I was losing my enthusiasm for drawing comics, but after sitting down and working for 4 hours nonstop I think I can safely say that I should still be doing DW when my 19th birthday arrives. I'm trying to put more detail into my lineart, and I'm debating whether to drop the highlights or not. Fridays comic won't have them, I'll see how it looks. DW is my way of continually improving, I look at some of the past comics and I can't believe I drew them. My exams went off without a hitch I think, finished all the papers as usual. A little bit worried about my maths paper, realised I made a stupid mistake on a question, it may only have been a 2 mark question but where you make one mistake you can make others. Fingers crossed though. On the subject of education, my university choices are coming through :). I've got my insurance choice already, and now I just have to choose between Imperial College or Bath University for my primary choice. I'm gonna be spending 4 years at wherever I choose, so I better choose the right one now. That's about all for now, I'm not too good at long rants. I'll try and get another blog up inside a month, but I can't make any promises :). ![]() "Let it snow!" Unless, I can't get to school. It's started snowing. This is the first snow to have settled yet, it's certainly cold enough. Hopefully it'll snow through the night, covering the countryside in a blanket of white, so the school bus can't get through. Fingers crossed. Hope you're liking the new story. I'm enjoying it far more than I ever did with the BT one, the merits of a better story. And if any of you have websites or webcomics, please link n.n I'll link back. On that note, I suppose I better make some link banners and stuff. More stuff to do ¬_¬. Edit:Just in the process of adding a fanart page atm. Clicking on the link will take you nowhere right now. Howabout you send in some fanart to fill the time :). And it stopped snowing :*(. ![]() "The voices, they made me do it!" I've finally got round to starting the main storyline. After much thought I came up with absolutely nothing, it wasn't until I went and watched Lotr: The Two Towers that I came up with an idea (btw, I loved the film). The AOHell saga is hopefully going to be one big LOTR parody, so I'll have more people after me, hence todays chibi :). I will try to update this more often, I'll have to find more stuff to talk about too. So until next time; ![]() "My Pie!!" So I'm gonna shove a whole load of pics up to take the place of proper comics whilst I'm gone. I should be back soon, so no need to despair. Oh yeah, and I got me a Wacom tablet, glee. ![]() "Kumbaya, my Lord" Not much has been happening lately. School's been quieter than normal, we've settled down into revision mode now, less than a month to go till our exams, urk. As you can see, I've added one new thing; Chibis!! I found a chibi style that I really liked and is pretty damn easy to draw. I've been throwing up tonnes of these little pictures so they'll be at the top of new newsposts from now. I'll try and make them humourous too. Not much else to say really. Going to the christmas ball next week, should be fun. They expect us to come in the next day, after a night of drinking. I think a few of us'll manage to drag our limp bodies into school on the Friday. Curse them all.![]() So on December the 24th, Planetarion may cease to exist, and so goes my e-mail account with it. Seems to have gone early though *shrug*. So is there anything else interesting going on you wonder. Well...I've handed in my physics coursework, now that we're revising I've come to realise that everything is much easier than I remember it so that's going well. Exams right after christmas, whoever thought that one up should be dragged out into the street and shot, repeatedly. Was rowing at the weekend, pissing cold it was. In fact it wasn't even pissing cold, piss froze outside in that weather. I can tell you that the portapotties were hell. Anyways, I got another medal to add to my burgeoning collection, it's almost like they're breeding or something. 13/11/2002: Feeling a bit better now, still groggy and still a bit chesty but I think I'll be back at school tomorrow. I sat down to do a new comic today, it was turning out really well, at least I thought it was. Inked it out, sat back and looked it, and realised it was godawful. Nothing wrong with the lineart or the actual drawing, but the proportions.. It looked like I had taken the view of my character from 3 different distances then amalgamated them into one grotesque parody. Maybe this illness thing does affect drawing and stuff. Oh well, it means the buffer'll drop a little but I'll do my best to make up this weekend. 11/11/2002: Woopidoo for winter illnesses, woke up this morning feeling like shit warmed up, after a night of tossing and turning. Pounding headache, feeling groggy. Got a sneaking suspicion it might be all those hangovers I never had catching up on me ;). Thought I might as well give you an update on how things are going. I've already told you why I bought the BT storyline to a premature end. It's gonna be random stuff, with a few short stories up until Christmas and just after. Then I'll be going after the big daddy of them all, AOHell. I did plan a big redesign for the characters, but I think they'll stay as they are, though there will be some clothing changes. Maybe next year they'll metamorphose into something new and better, but right now the character designs are nice and simple in order to fit the comic into my timetables. Remember to tell your friends and family about Digital War. 25/10/2002: Almost half term now, about time. This is my last year of school before I leave for university, and as fate would have it, it's the longest year yet. No, it's not due to the anticipation of finishing school, though that probably doesn't help matters, but because this really is the longest year yet. Dammit. Not much else to write about at the moment, I'm gonna try my best to do a comic every day over the half term and get the buffer up, then I'll be able to take a short hiatus from drawing (no one will notice hopefully, not that there's anyone too notice ;-)). One last thing, don't forget to tell your friends, your family and the person you bumped into at the supermarket about Digital War. Just don't tell BT in case they try and sue me or something >_<. 11/10/2002: It's been a bad week. It started out ok, Monday was fine and all. Come Tuesday I had a doctors appointment for my shoulder problems, turns out I have something called capsulitis, I've been overstressing my joints. From then on things got rapidly worse. Tuesday night I couldn't get on the internet at all. Seemed like BT's main server was down, not surprising considering how much they overload the poor thing. When I got back on the internet I recieved an e-mail from BT. I though "oo, an apology about the problems last night, that's a rare one from BT". How wrong I was. When I first joined BT the limit was 16 hours a day (unlimited internet my arse), about a month ago that became a maximum of 12 hours a day. Then, three nights ago I got an e-mail informing me that BT was changing the maximum connection time each month to 150 hours. That's 5 hours a day. The reason I got the e-mail is because I'm one of the repeat offenders who uses the Internet for over 180 hours. So somehow I'm going to have to cut down my net usage by 30-40 hours :/. Yay. And there was my fascist school out to make things worse. My face is currently smoother than a babies bottom, and I really hate it. My beloved beard has been flushed down the plughole along with a small mountain of shaving foam. It's just like the Taliban, except here you're not allowed a beard. One last thing, it started raining again after weeks of great weather. Unfortunately the roof started leaking so I had to go outside in the cold, wet and dark to try and divert the water around the cracked tile. The tiles are pretty old so we think the recent earthquake (about 4 on the richter scale) may have cracked one or two :/. More work to be done. 04/10/2002:Battlefield 1942 is so much fun. Me and some mates had a little get together and a small LAN party Friday night, where we played nothing but BF:1942. Hour after hour after hour. This was the first time I had played it, and I loved it. Admittedly the fun of LAN gaming probably helped, but it's still a great game. The screams of people being run over, that delicious squelch, then the incredibly amusing sound of my team mate screaming to his death as he bails out of a plane and forgets his parachute :). Then there was one time when Rob (who the character is based on) needed some help in securing one of the outposts. So in I sped on my jeep, shot over the top of a small hillock, right into the side of Rob's halftrack. We both blew up. How I laughed, no really I did. Of course this means I haven't had much sleep and am like the living dead. I never got a comic done on Friday (though this won't affect you) so my buffer has dropped to a measly two now, the first time in 5 weeks :/. I'll try and catch up when I have the time, I think next weekend will be a quiet one. Now I'm bordering into the realms of things you may be less interested in. I've lost weight >_<. Whilst most people may view this as a good thing, to me it's not. You may have guessed or found out somehow that I'm a rower, so I'm supposed to a honed athlete and all that.Last time I was checked, my bodyfat percentage was at 10%, this was 5% too low for a rower, the reason being is that rowing is an endurance sport and we need the energy reserves. Losing weight, cannot be good for me then. I better crack out a tub of lard then. 01/10/2002: A new site for me, I never liked the old one much and I was surprised when it came out half presentable. However this didn't stop me from hating it, so as soon as I had the time I started tinkering with a new site. Using the experience I gained from the other (my first real page ever) I made this new one. No javascipt in this one, making it 100% userfriendly. I will be adding new pages as and when I think of them. This will also depend on readership. :) School has been a bitch, gods how I haye my school uniform, and the strict regime they follow. In case you're wondering, this isn't a private school or anything, just a normal British state school. I was planning on getting comics done in my 'study' periods but I haven't got round to trying yet. I have never been a morning person and I doubt I ever will. 02/09/2002: 30/08/2002: |
